The Proteus Controller is a $299 modular input device for players with disabilities and Microsoft has more good news for accessibility-
As part of the company’s recognition of Global Accessibility Awareness day, Microsoft has announced a number of accessibility updates for Xbox and PC gamers, including a preorder release announcement for the ByoWave Proteus modular controller, a modular “snap and play” peripheral designed for gamers with disabilities created as part of the Designed for Xbox program.
The controller offers both PC and Xbox support, and has been designed to allow gamers the ability to snap together its various components in “over 100 million traditional and custom configuration and LED lighting variations”. That should mean that players who have difficulty using regular gaming controllers are able to reconfigure the device into something more comfortable and easier to use than a standard gaming devic…
Read moreThis $1,300 MSI RTX 4070 gaming laptop deal is a portable gaming steal-
This precise MSI Katane 15 gaming laptop was already in our list of the very best gaming laptop deals currently available. But one of the best just got even better, as Newegg has just shaved off another $40.
So, what do you get for your grand total of $1,319? This is a 15.6-inch model with a 144Hz IPS panel rocking 1,920 by 1,080 pixels. To that you can add an Intel Core i7 12650H CPU.
OK, that’s a 12th Gen rather than the latest 13th Gen Intel chip. But we’ll let you in on a little secret here. Those two generations are architecturally pretty much identical.
So, what matters is that the 12650H rocks six Performance cores, which is plenty for gaming, plus another four Efficient cores, just to help with battery life and bump up the multi-threaded throughput to a t…
Read moreStreet Fighter 6 has some terrifying ambitious sales goals from Capcom—10M copies-
I have no doubt in my mind that Street Fighter 6 is going to be Capcom’s most successful instalment to date. It’s had a pretty transparent development cycle and the hype around it from newcomers and veterans alike is bound to secure its place as one of the greats. But is it going to be successful enough to sell 10 million copies? I sure hope so, because that’s how many units Capcom’s president wants to push.
Haruhiro Tsujimoto sat down with Famitsu to talk about the industry, its library of games and what the future for Capcom holds. When it came to talking about Street Fighter, Tsujimoto said the developer had “no hesitation” in investing in Street Fighter 6. Big investment means the expectation of big results, with Tsujimoto adding: “If we can make use of our experience in the d…

What a great start to the day Wordle was. I had a decent, if unremarkable result from my opener, which my follow-up transformed, as if by magic, into a word that was just one letter away from today’s Wordle answer. Here’s hoping the weekend Wordles fly by as breezily as this one did.

Read moreAfter nearly 10 years, Australian developer Samurai Punk is shutting down-
Melbourne-based developer Samurai Punk has announced that it will cease operations after almost ten years of making games. The company’s statement, attributed to studio directors Winston Tang and Nicholas McDonnell, does not provide a specific reason for the decision, but it comes amid a wave of studio closures and layoffs in the industry.
Samurai Punk’s debut was the 2014 split screen FPS, Screencheat, which enshrined the titular Goldeneye 64 party foul as the game’s central mechanic. Enemy player models were permanently invisible, so looking over at other players’ screens was the only way to track opponents.
Screencheat grew out of a game jam project by McDonnell, with the initial concept being a puzzle-based competitive multiplayer experience. Lacking the resources to imp…
Read moreMortal Kombat 1 won’t have crossplay at launch, and it’s unclear whether it’ll eventually come to PC at all-
After quietly removing references to crossplay—or “Kross-Play” as it’s been dubbed—from its Steam page earlier this month, NetherRealm Studios has confirmed that Mortal Kombat 1 will be launching without the feature.
In a Twitter post, the Mortal Kombat 1 account revealed: “Launch is just around the corner and we can’t wait for everyone to sink their teeth into #MK1. Regarding Kross-Play, it will not be available at launch, but know we are hard at work implementing the feature into the game and it will be koming post launch.”
The inclusion of cross-play in Mortal Kombat 1 has been a bit of a confusing one, to say the least. A tweet from Wario64 back in May shows that an FAQ on the game’s website stated that NetherRealm planned to add crossplay and cross-progressi…
Read moreWatch Intel show off unreleased 6GHz chip in the labs-
In characteristically cagey fashion, Intel has posted a YouTube sneak peak of its upcoming 6GHz CPU. Intel says the new chip will hit 6GHz “out of the box” and “without the need of being overclocked”.
Almost certainly, this new CPU model will be known as the Core i9 13900KS and mirror the existing 13900K in all but peak Turbo Boost Max clock speed, upping the ante from the plain old “K” model’s 5.8GHz to the symbolically significant 6GHz figure. But Intel still won’t actually name the chip.
Intel demo’ed the chip using an off the shelf Corsair CPU cooler, running a 7-Zip benchmark and then Hardware Info to track the CPU frequency. Even in Intel’s carefully curated video, the chip doesn’t manage a sustained 6GHz.
Jason Xie, technical marketing engineer for Intel, explai…
Read moreValve’s new top-played chart for the Steam Deck shows that people really, really like both Hades and Hades 2-
Valve’s Steam charts now have a new live category exclusively for the Steam Deck, letting you view the “Top Played” games for the Deck in the past week, month, and year. The list, which tracks changes in rank compared to the previous time period, also shows prices and whether the game in question is verified for Steam Deck. It’s a great way to see what other people are playing—and pretty dang good at highlighting deals, since the prices show current sale prices for the 2024 Steam summer sale.
There are more than a few interesting insights to be gleaned. PC Gamer staff were quick to note that both Hades and Hades 2 are holding onto spots in the top 10 for both the past week and past month categories, with Hades 2 beating out a lot of newer and fancier games. The dual placemen…
Read moreTotal War- Warhammer 3 is giving away a big dog that summons little dogs for free-
Total War: Warhammer 3 seems to have clawed its way back into players’ good graces, turning things around with the superb Thrones of Decay DLC, which gave us flying ships, boozed-up dwarfs and one world-conquering maggot. Creative Assembly is still working on its follow-up, focused on the Khorne, Greenskins and Ogre Kingdoms factions—but in the meantime, we’re all getting a freebie. His name is Karanak, he is a good boy, and you can add him to your armies now.
Karanak, the Hound of Vengeance, is a daemonic pooch who guards the throne of Khorne, the Blood God. When he’s not getting his belly rubbed, he hunts for anyone stupid enough to enter Khorne’s domain, gleefully murdering them with his very large teeth. With three heads, he expects to get triple the number of pats…
Read moreIt turns out that Elden Ring players can kill Shadow of the Erdtree’s final boss with the power of friendship and a strange bug-
An Elden Ring player who goes by Los Ch. ロス stumbled upon a ridiculous bug for Promised Consort Radahn, the final boss of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. After further investigation, it looks like this strat is replicable.
If you summon two phantoms in co-op for the Leda fight and kill her without anyone else dying, Promised Consort Radahn will drop dead before you even reach his bonfire. “Batshit CRAZY Promised Consort Radahn skip,” the player says alongside a short video. “I’ve replicated this bug and it seems like it’s consistent.”
The video that’s linked shows Los Ch. ロス and other co-op summons jumping Leda (it didn’t seem like she stood a chance, honestly). After spawning in Enir-Ilim, the player makes his way up to Promised Co…
